E132, also known as Indigotine, is a synthetic blue food coloring used in sweets, drinks and baked goods. It is produced artificially through chemical processes and does not come from animal or insect sources. Because it is synthetically made, major halal certification bodies like JAKIM, MUI and MUIS generally consider it halal. However, it is always best to check for a halal certification logo on the product packaging to be completely sure.
